Nephrotic syndrome is a hypercoagulable condition which manifests as venous or arterial thrombosis, and even pulmonary embolism. (approx. 35%)

Renal vein thrombosis is the most frequent manifestation. (often thought to result from the loss of antithrombotic factors in the urine. )

Other complications:

  1. Protein malnutrition

  3. increased susceptibility to infection, and
  4. Vitamin D deficiency
