Nephrotic Syndrome
- Minimal Change Disease (Lipoid Necrosis)
- Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis
- Membranous Nephropathy (membranous glomerulonephritis)
- Amyloidosis
- Diabetic glomerulonephropathy
Nephrotic syndrome is a hypercoagulable condition which manifests as venous or arterial thrombosis, and even pulmonary embolism. (approx. 35%)
Renal vein thrombosis is the most frequent manifestation. (often thought to result from the loss of antithrombotic factors in the urine. )
Other complications:
- Protein malnutrition
- Iron-resistant microcytic hypochromic anemia,
- increased susceptibility to infection, and
- Vitamin D deficiency
