Hi, I’m Nora, I’m a teenager, and I’ve been fighting several rare and painful illnesses for almost three years. Before all this, I was a very happy girl: I loved dancing, doing rhythmic gymnastics, hanging out with my friends, and enjoying all the normal things a teenager would do. Since my illness arrived, I had to give up many of those things for my health, but I discovered a new passion: crochet, which became my creative refuge and helps me stay active and happy. 🧶💛

My health Journey 💚

In February 2023, on my birthday night, I started feeling unbearable pain on the left side of my back and my abdomen, and from that moment, everything went downhill like a rollercoaster.Three months later, I was diagnosed with superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS), nutcracker syndrome (NCS), and ulcerative colitis. Later, they discovered I also had a paraduodenal hernia, and they decided to operate instead of continuing conservative treatment. The surgery didn’t fix everything—it only removed the back pain caused by the hernia. It also stopped me limping from my left leg, which was related either to the hernia or my recently diagnosed May-Thurner syndrome. Shortly after, they diagnosed me with median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) and gastroparesis. Months later, I had another surgery, but unfortunately, it didn’t work and left me worse. I’ve had to go through very hard moments, and I also experienced medical negligence. Because of it, my doctors allowed me to become severely malnourished, and my BMI dropped to 11, which is extremely dangerous. It’s heartbreaking that this can happen, and I hope the healthcare system improves for everyone. Recently, I was diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) and May-Thurner syndrome, which explains many things. On top of that, I also have vision problems and several spinal issues, including scoliosis, spondylosis, L5 listhesis, and more. I was recently told I need another surgery, so I decided to start selling my crochet products to help pay for it. Currently, I’m fed through a nasojejunal tube, but I still experience a lot of daily pain.
