October 2025. I lost my main job overnight. After four years at the same company, a new bill passed that forced mass layoffs. I wasn't alone—a lot of people got cut. But that didn't make it easier. For the first time in years, I was staring at 2026 with no main income. Just my part-time job. And that doesn't pay the bills.
November 2025. They called me back. "We want you to stay. Will you come back?" The pay was good. I said yes. But something had changed in that month of uncertainty.
I realized I was tired of trading my life for someone else's schedule. Tired of working six days a week. Tired of falling asleep at 8:30 p.m. because I'm exhausted. Tired of someone else deciding whether I have a job next year. Most of all, I realized how much I value time with the people I love. And how little of it I actually have.
Then my sister told me about her coworker. He lives in Mexico. He only comes to the United States when he needs money—three or four months out of the year. The rest of the time? He's living on his terms. I thought: I want that kind of freedom too.
So I made a vow. I'm never letting someone else control my future again. I'm never going back to that month of uncertainty. I'm building something that's mine. That's why I started Desk Ninja.
Where I am now: I work two jobs. Monday through Thursday at my main job. Friday and Saturday at my part-time gig. Six days a week. Every week. Most nights, I fall asleep by 8:30 p.m.—not because I want to, but because I'm exhausted. But before I crash, I carve out 3–5 hours to build something different. Right now, that's learning AI tools and affiliate marketing. My goal? Make $2,000 a month. That's what I earn from my part-time job. If I can replace that income, I can quit and start getting my weekends back.
What is Desk Ninja? It's my path to becoming my own boss through AI productivity tools. I only promote tools I actually use:
Rytr (AI writing tool) – helps me write faster ElevenLabs (AI voiceovers) – lets me create content without recording
These aren't random affiliate links. These are the tools helping me build freedom while I grind.
Why am I doing this publicly? Because I know I'm not the only one trading my life for someone else's schedule. There are thousands of people working multiple jobs, side hustling late at night, building something on the side because they're tired of the uncertainty. Freelancers. Remote workers. Anyone who's ever felt the fear of losing their income and realized they need a backup plan. If that's you, this is for you.
Where I'm headed: First milestone: $2,000/month. Quit my part-time job. Get my weekends back. Long-term vision: Build a location-independent business. Work three or four months a year if I want. Spend the rest of my time with the people I love. This isn't just about money. It's about control. It's about never being blindsided again. It's about building a life where I own my time.
The journey so far: I've posted my first Pinterest pins. Created my first YouTube Shorts. Built my first content systems. No huge wins yet. But I'm showing up. Learning. Building. If you're on a similar path—grinding late nights, building freedom on the side, working smarter instead of harder—let's connect. I'm sharing everything: the wins, the exhaustion, the tools that work, the setbacks. This is Desk Ninja. Freedom isn't given. It's built. Let's work smarter together. 🚀 —Edwin
