All living beings on this planet, in the process of sustaining themselves, inevitably increase the entropy of their surrounding environment. In that sense, every life-form can be seen as a contributor to environmental pollution. Yet, humans—endowed with intelligence and emotion—have the capacity to mitigate this entropy through the use of renewable energy, continuously developing and applying technologies for the healthy coexistence of humanity and the Earth.

That is precisely why I have come to view Bitcoin art in a positive light. If Bitcoin mining were still recklessly generating entropy as it did in its early days, I would have had no interest in it.

What truly deserves our attention is the unchecked destruction of ecosystems carried out without any countermeasures. In contrast, the Bitcoin mining industry, through its own self-reflection, has made efforts toward coexistence with humanity—efforts that have in fact taken a pioneering role in advancing renewable energy industries. This, to me, has been a powerful source of attraction.

이 지구상의 모든 생명체는 자신을 유지하는 과정에서 필연적으로 주변 환경의 엔트로피를 증가시킨다. 그런 측면에서 보면 모든 생명체는 환경 오염에 일조하고 있는 존재라고 할 수 있다. 하지만 지능과 감성을 지닌 인간은 인류와 지구의 건강한 공존을 위해 이 엔트로피를 재생가능한 에너지 활용을 통해 완화할 수 있는 기술을 지속적으로 발전 및 적용시켜나가고 있다.

그 점이 바로 내가 비트코인 아트를 긍정적으로 바라보게 된 이유이다. 만약 비트코인 채굴이 여전히 초창기와 같이 무분별하게 엔트로피만 발생시키고 있었다면, 나는 전혀 관심을 두지 않았을 것이다.

우리가 진정 주목해야 할 점은 아무런 대응책도 없이 자행되는 돌이킬 수 없는 생태계 파괴다. 그와 달리, 비트코인 채굴 산업은 자기 반성을 통해 인류와 공존하기 위한 노력을 기울였고, 그 과정에서 오히려 재생 가능 에너지 산업을 발전시키는 데 선도적인 역할을 하게 되었다. 이 사실이 내게는 큰 매력으로 다가왔다.
