I’m a complete beginner in videography, but I’ve researched the best camera for shooting cinematic videos (not photos).

Camera Setup

• Sony α7S III (which I believe is the second best after the Sony FX3)
• Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 lens for everything
• Sony ECM-M1 for mic

Tips when buying

• NEVER buy anything expensive at full price
• Always check for coupon codes or student discounts
• Grey import expensive items if you can. This is when you buy the same genuine product from an economically cheaper country.
• I use onbuy.com to buy items as a grey import and pricerunner.com to compare prices.

Video Editing

• I use Davinci Resolve Studio ($295) - Ask an American friend to buy it for less than the UK price, otherwise it’s £300+
• MacBook Air M5 (not recommended because colour-grading is really resource intensive, so go for a MacBook with better specs)
• For colour-grading I use Andrews Bodegas one-click powergrade pack but customise it a little (.drx)
• I record everything in SLog3
