I get asked a lot of questions about the software and tools I use for blogging. That is why I decided to share my entire blogging tool kit with you.
Ulysses
I’ve used many apps for writing blog posts over the years, from Google Docs to Microsoft Word and even Notion. But my all-time favourite app for writing is Ulysses. Ulysses is a simple, yet powerful app that allows me to type using Markup, check my work with the built-in proofreader, then publish my content directly to platforms like WordPress and Medium.
Canva
I use Canva for many of the cover images you see on my blog. I find that Canva is a fantastic tool that allows me to quickly and easily create great-looking graphics for my website.
Bublup
Bublup is the tool I use for saving links to articles I want to read later and content I may want to refer back to such as guides and recipes. It’s also the tool I use for inspiration and for showcasing content such as my everyday carry on my website.
Google Keep
Google Keep is the tool I use for logging ideas for content on my blog. I like it because its quick and easy to use, making it perfect for taking quick notes such as ideas. One of my favourites and most used features is the ability to take quick notes using my voice on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.
Notion
Notion is the tool I use to for organising and distilling my ideas. I’m a big fan of Tiago Forte’s CODE framework, which stands for Capture, Organise, Distil, Express.
WordPress
My main platform for blogging is WordPress, it’s what runs the Tech With Dom website. I’ve been using WordPress for years and I like it due to its features, ease of use and just the way it works.
Medium
I share my content to Medium alongside thousands of other passionate bloggers and creators. It’s a brilliant space for sharing ideas, learning new things, and diving into topics you care about.
Creator’s Companion
Over the years, I tried many templates and systems on Notion, but nothing I tried compares to the Creator’s Companion template by Thomas Frank. I’m not sponsored to say any of this, but it really has made a difference to my content creation workflow.
iPad Pro 11” 2nd generation
The iPad Pro 11” 2nd generation is the primary device I use for writing blog posts. I think that the size of the 11” iPad makes it ideal for writing on the go. I usually like to write blog posts when traveling by train to and from work as the 11” iPad is the ideal size for train tray tables. It’s also the primary device I use when away from my desk.
Logitech Slim Folio Pro
I primarily use my iPad Pro with the Logitech Slim Folio Pro case, which includes a built-in keyboard. Speaking of which, I find the keyboard comfortable to type on and I like that it has back lights making it ideal to type on with poor lighting conditions.
M1 MacBook Air
When I’m at my desk, I primarily use my M1 MacBook Air which I used docked to the BenQ beCreatus DP1310 Hybrid docking station. The docking station enables me to connect my MacBook to my dual-monitor desk setup.
Logitech MX Mechanical Mini
The main keyboard I use when typing on my MacBook is the Logitech MX Mechanical Mini, which I think is a fantastic keyboard. Not only do I find it extremely comfortable to type on, but it has some fantastic features.
Logitech MX Master 3
The main mouse I use is the Logitech MX Master 3, which I’ve now had for a long time. I think that it is the best mouse I ever had, and I highly recommend it. I find it extremely comfortable to use and I love the ultra-fast scroll wheel as well as the side-scroll wheel.
Apple Magic Trackpad
Alongside the Logitech MX Master 3, I use the Apple Magic Trackpad, which I purchased second-hand at CeX. I use the Magic Trackpad as a secondary device, primarily for scrolling when writing and reading blog posts.
