The Problem

Government agencies at municipal, provincial, and national level receive large volumes of citizen complaints covering consumer protection and neighbourhood disputes. Current processes are slow, in-person, and expensive for both the state and the companies involved.

🧩 How Kleros Fits

Kleros adds a fast, online, impartial option for low and medium-value disputes. It is not intended to replace courts or formal legal channels. It operates as an additional layer before those channels become necessary.

Evaluators in public sector implementations are citizens selected against criteria defined by the government body. For neighborhood disputes specifically, evaluators are typically other citizens from the same community. Your case is solved by local people, not by a distant institution — a defining feature of these integrations and the reason they land well with both citizens and the government bodies adopting them.

📋 The Process

Step Action
1 A citizen files a complaint through the consumer protection portal, submitting a simple form with the amount in dispute, evidence, and arguments
2 Respondent organization is notified digitally
3 Kleros evaluators review the case and issue a resolution, typically within 5 days. For neighborhood disputes, the evaluators are typically other citizens from the same community. Your case is solved by local people, not by a distant institution.
4 If the ruling favors the citizen, the provider must comply; if they do not, sanctions established by law apply
