Objective
Reduce MainStory’s operational expenses (OPEX) across 33 centers by optimizing electricity usage, internet contracts, and vendor management.
Focus areas:
- Eliminate redundant utilities and overpriced contracts.
- Transition to cost-efficient suppliers with performance safeguards.
- Build a vendor-analysis framework for continuous cost control.
Problem
- Electricity costs vary significantly between centers of similar size and operation. Data inconsistencies and lack of tariff validation have led to inefficiencies and limited financial visibility
- MainStory pays up to Rp 2.5–4.5 million per center per month to Hypernet, despite cheaper and equally stable alternatives. Some centers operate 2–4 Wi-Fi lines without clear justification.
- MainStory’s procurement and vendor management systems currently lack visibility and control, leading to inflated costs and inefficiencies.
Action Plan:
- Conducted an investigation through
- Google Forms to gather data on electrical appliances (quantity, brand, and watt usage) across centers.
- Performed user interviews to understand electricity usage behavior, internet speed, setup origins, and procurement & maintenance SOPs.
- Analyzed existing SOPs against on-site activities and conducted monitoring & site visits with a sample size of three locations.
- The objective of the action plan is to understand the gap and discrepancies.
