Idea #1 - Popular Movies by Year

Goal:

See whether or not the most money-making movie pass the Bechdel test per year - and to what degree, see the trends over the years?

Points of Data

• Name of Movie
• Year it was Released (determines x location)
• Amount of Money made - determines if it was within top 20?
• Whether or not it passed the bechdel test (0-3)
• When you click into the movie it expands and showcases:
  • Director
  • Rating
  • Most popular poster

Idea #2 - Movie Genres

We choose x genres of movies - determine visuals(colors) based on that genre

Our Goal: Showcase trends of movies across genre, visually show whether or not movies pass the test on d

• Pull out the top 5 movies of that genre each year from 1990-2020 (150 movies per genre)
  • Organized by year 1990 at bottom, 2020 at top
  • buttons at top determine whether or not the movie passes the bechdel test
  • User inputs - types of genres, able to scroll between ranks of passing of test, able to click on the movies and see more information
    • Reviews, awards, directors, potential link to NYT review?
• We should animate/create a beginning scene that explains what the Bechdel test is
  • Not coded, but as an intro into the experience?
