THE DATA DISPLAYED IN OUR ALPHA SERVICE IS A CREDIBLE STARTING POINT, BUT IT DOESN'T MEET THE STANDARDS WE EXPECT TO HIT IN THE FUTURE.

During our alpha testing period, we're primarily focused on testing whether or not our solution can create real user value that helps people to make better decisions, and secondarily whether or not a community will take shape to help us make this happen. Our end-user target audience is NOT an environmental scientist, but our community hopefully will include many. At the moment, we're focused on covering as many end-user touch points as possible, and communicating information in a way that interested non-scientists will find compelling. We're prioritizing breadth and experimentation, over depth and apples-to-apples methodologies. We're starting with established science and credible datasets, but we're applying some techniques that increase our coverage so that we can test our priorities.

Ultimately, we want for all data to be founded on peer-reviewed science, meeting established standards (ISO, WRI, etc.). Doing so (at internet scale) will be hard, but we know of many ways that we can improve our data, and are committed to taking a community-driven approach to make this happen. You will find us to be responsive to any feedback on how we can make things better, and transparent on our priorities and what we're trying to learn. If we move the needle with users, then standards-driven data depth will become absolutely essential, and achieving this at scale with our community will be a top priority. A good problem to have.

We hope to regularly update and improve our data sources and calculation methodologies.

1. OVERVIEW

How It Works

Where users have granted our browser extension permission to do so, our browser extension will look for certain information on certain sites, and use that information to display calculations, data, and information which (we believe) is credible, and which (we hope) will help users to make more environmentally conscious decisions.
