We optimise for being remote-first first, but we also deeply value spending time together in-person. We get to know each other better, it’s valuable for doing complex or deeply collaborative work together, and it helps to ⚡ make remote working work ⚡.
This page outlines how summits, offsites, and team meets work, and includes guidance for self-organising.
Spend company money wisely 🦉
We appreciate that teams want to get to know each other and spend time together, however we must manage our travel spend to ensure that we can all benefit from this over time.
Optimise for full remote participation 🎳
Some of the team will struggle to travel as frequently as others. If it’s proving difficult to get everyone together for a more casual team meet, then we ask that teams consider not meeting to ensure that no team members miss out on critical discussions and work.
Communicate Intentionally 💬
It’s important that the right people are informed about plans to meet in-person, no matter how small the meet might be. Be conscious of your network effect and share plans (before they’re booked) with your Head of Department and anyone else who may benefit from knowing.
We’re targeting that we will each experience around three in-person get-togethers each year. It may be less, but any more will be the exception, not the rule.
