• We should just see so that we know what does and doesn’t work

• Co-design: I’ll get the team on the same page and say, we have to come with stuff to show. We can’t show them nothing.

• I don’t think it has to be created from scratch — look at any of the other systems and just design based on that

  • I would ask if it’s possible to present the system in Wikimedia & non-Wikimedia events to get much more targeted feedback and information from volunteers and non-Wikimedian experts

• Set up at personal blog on wiki to show the community what it is I’m doing

  • Caroline would do this and she would get user feedback sometimes
  • Helped signal interest in a project
  • Say “I wanna walk people through the design process more” and get the CRS to share them. Forces the Foundation to show my work to the community. Let’s the pedantic and annoying Wikimedians fight the fight for me.

• Job search — any suggestions for how I find a new job in the Trust and Safety space? Or adjacent? What would be adjacent? What companies do you think are doing the most interesting work in responsible technology? Misinformation?
  • Depends on what you mean by interesting
  • It might be worth to think about or slowly dip a toe out there
  • Wikimedia isn’t going to get rid of my team
  • I enjoyed the people I worked with at Facebook. Really lovely people. I had a good time working with them. I would say, maybe don’t sleep on the Big Tech companies. You will also learn a lot. If you’re interested in wicked design problems with maximum impact.
  • Trust and Safety is a hard but necessary job.
  • They’re not going to not follow the DSA
  • Scale, speed, and all kinds of other issues related to Trust and Safety at a larger company
