Brain dump here thoughts / comments / data re: Stacks current brand

📌 What are the shortcomings of the brand? Where is it falling?
- Can be purely visual, messaging, communication channels…
What opportunities are we missing? What improvements do we need?

AS:
- Current marketing is misleading & confusing
- “On Bitcoin”—> It’s not on Bitcoin, it’s on Stacks
- Anecdotally, Bitcoiners would rather this be more clear.
- “Stacks branding shouldnt try to “be bitcoin” it should try to be “Polygon for Bitcoin” heard during NFTNYC
- This is the 1# complaint about Stacks - how do we ensure sBTC marketing doesnt also get impacted by that
EG:
- Who is our target audience? Bitcoiners, Web3? Non-coiners?
- Audiences are very different and while they are not mutually exclusive, messaging that resonates with one group often alienates the other.
- “Show, don’t tell.” How can we elevate/ emphasize the Bitcoin connection in Stacks apps? Contribute to Bitcoin projects?
Ginny:
- Optics: “Stacks pretends to be Bitcoin. It’s not” → Make clear we’re complementary, not trying to replace

Muneeb:
Stacks is not positioned as a tool in the btc ecosystem. When looking at the project he wants it to feel and look like a Bitcoin L2. Maybe it’s a color-theme matter?
When you look at Stacks, you don’t think “Bitcoin tool / layer”
Minimize Stacks as a separate ecosystem
The more Stacks becomes a Bitcoin L2, the better it works
