I joined Notion for two main reasons - first, I was already a huge fan of the product and used it regularly in my life. It really helped me stay organised and productive.
Second, I kept hearing amazing things about the culture here, and during my interviews, I got to experience it firsthand. The people I met were incredibly smart but also genuinely kind and welcoming.

<aside> <img src="/icons/stars_gray.svg" alt="/icons/stars_gray.svg" width="40px" /> What are the top 3 qualities or skills you look for in an xDR?
Resilience (Grit & Persistence)
Sales Development can be tough - you face a lot of "no's" in your daily outreach. The best SDRs have a thick skin and can shake off rejection quickly and bounce back. They stay positive and bring the same energy and enthusiasm to every interaction, whether it's your first or your fiftieth call of the day. This mental toughness helps them keep up both the quantity and quality of their work, even when things get challenging.
Strong Communication Skills
This means being able to communicate well in different ways - whether it's through email, telephone calls, or other channels. A good xDR knows how to explain our product's benefits clearly and adjust their message based on whom they're talking to. They're great listeners who can really understand what potential customers need. They write compelling emails, have productive telephone conversations, and always keep things professional when working with prospects.
Curiosity and Coachability
Great xDRs are naturally curious about their prospects' businesses and the challenges they face. They want to learn how our product can really help solve those problems. They're also eager to learn and grow - they take feedback well and utilise it to get better at their job. These folks are always looking to improve their skills, learn new things, and find better ways to connect with prospects.

The EMEA Development team is at an incredibly exciting stage, as we're building the foundations for Notion's Development programme. We're actively shaping best practices, establishing scalable processes, and creating playbooks that will serve as blueprints for future expansion. Our team has the unique opportunity to influence how Notion approaches sales development worldwide, from defining effective outreach strategies to creating innovative ways of engaging with prospects. This foundational work is particularly rewarding as we're not just following an established playbook - we're writing it ourselves, whilst adapting to the diverse needs of the EMEA market.
