Project Overview

This project analyses the key demographic and behavioral drivers of medical insurance charges. The same analytical problem is solved using Excel and Python, demonstrating both dashboard-based exploratory analysis and reproducible, code-based workflows.

Problem Statement

Rising healthcare costs make it critical for insurers to understand the factors that drive medical insurance charges in order to improve pricing, underwriting and risk management decisions.

Objectives

• Identify key drivers of medical insurance charges
• Compare cost patterns across demographic and behavioral segments
• Present insights using both interactive dashboards and reproducible code

Dataset Overview

• Records: 2,772 policyholders
• Variables: Age, Sex, BMI, Number of Children, Smoker Status, Region, Medical Charges

Assumption: Medical charges represent annual healthcare costs per policyholder.
