For full transparency, this is a project created by me, Erin Mikail Staples, a graduate student in NYU's Studio 20 program. The future of the solopreneur appears bright! We're seeing more and more people subscribe to new ways of creating content, but it also raises a ton of questions. Over the last year, I've researched the future of the solopreneur from an academic lens: taking a look at the tools, topics, and creators that are fostering the future.
The media solopreneur is someone whose primary product is content. This could be a newsletter, a blog post, a podcast, a vlog, or webinar series β you get the idea. They're building their substack empires, have scaled their newsletter to be a larger corporation, or maybe just maintain it for a few close friends for fun.
