Using Anchor sets to measure progress over time from one in-house task to another

One common use of Comparative Judgement is measuring progress over time. To do this you need to link tasks together using anchors, before carrying out the judging for the new task.

Let's say that you want to compare some recent results to a previous task's results to see if your pupils have made progress.

First, select your previous task, go to the Populate, generate, download & print coded sheets link and click on the View tab. You will see the details of all the candidates from that particular task:

You can view the candidates' scripts by clinking on the link in the Code column of the table.

By considering the scripts, along with the candidates' Scaled Scores from the table, choose a broad representative set of scripts to use as Anchors from this task. (Around 10 scripts should be sufficient, assuming the group's size allows.)

Select the scripts you wish to export as an Anchor set by clicking on their check-boxes on the left hand side, then clicking on Toggle - Export. You will see that their crosses change to ticks in the Export column:

Now you can go to the new task that you wish to link to your previous task.

In Settings (the 'Settings' button), make sure that Use Anchors is set as 'Yes'. (If not, change it, and then press the 'Update' button.)

Click on Populate, generate, download & print coded sheets to take you to the Candidates page for the new task.

Click on the ANCHORS tab and you should see a screen displaying the available Anchor sets, including the one that you created from your previous task:
