Found out yesterday that I’ve been accepted into the WiCyS Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP). So this is a unique opportunity bc it runs for a year, and the application is open continuously between now and May 1, 2026. So, if you’re too busy now, bookmark the link above and come back to it when you have some time.

From the website:

Participants are encouraged to collaborate, share insights, and build their technical acumen in a supportive community environment. The VDP is open to all WiCyS members and serves as a stepping stone toward more advanced training and industry engagement.

I think it’s going to be a lot of fun!

I’ve also dug into, ever so slightly, the Let’s Defend SOC Fundamentals course. I’m still figuring it out., but I like it so far. Not quite as meaty as what we find in TryHackMe in some ways, but, being able to look at the SIEM from the get-go is rather cool. This course is among their free offerings, but there are others that can be taken for a fee.

From the website:

The SOC Fundamentals course serves as a crucial stepping stone for individuals aspiring to build a rewarding career as a Security Operations Center (SOC) analyst. Through a systematic exploration of SOC types, roles, and responsibilities, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic cybersecurity landscape. The course not only equips aspiring SOC analysts with essential technical skills such as log management, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) but also emphasizes the significance of fostering a proactive and strategic mindset. By addressing common mistakes made by SOC analysts, the course empowers individuals to navigate challenges, enhance their incident response capabilities, and contribute effectively to organizational cybersecurity efforts.

Stay safe out there, everyone.
