Discovery of Mirasteel, a thermal and kinetic deflecting smart alloy made the island a mirror plated goldmine. Whilst able to be recreated synthetically, the naturally occurring veins of the alloy found on the island allowed for liberal use of the material otherwise thought impossible without a bottomless budget.
Upon discovery, a multitude of air bases were placed on the island by force and order of the NDC. This was war. The locals were fierce, using Mirasteel armour to combat human arms. Attrition could have pushed them away, but without help from the mainland, the humans surrendered within months.
Local tribes were strategists, and understood that humanity was an army driven by revenge. The quick reward of execution was thrown in favour of an offer to peace.
Those left, respecting the similarities of their given cards, too agreed. This day was known as the Great Shake, both for the handshake of the two founders and the rapid changes to the island following the moment they united. The shake became legend, a vow to unification over destruction.
With the island's natural isolation, conflict had been largely avoided throughout the remaining colonial history to the modern day. Left unharmed, the founding artisans of the island devoted themselves to education and self sufficiency free from the violence of the mainland.
Use of hydroponics and advanced machining allowed the island to flourish: selling hyper advanced spacecraft, premium armour plating and point defence laser systems to the wartorn island to their north. During both corporate wars, use of superweapons developed in tandem with the integrated Danthicals staved off any ideas of invasion from their violent neighbours. These costly aerial beasts were the pride of their nation, symbols of their longlasting goal of peace.
Unfortunately, shattering the skies above them, sodality put a permanent end to their grand projects.

Now returning to the global ecosystem, they remain light footed. Their primary exports now are purely civilian spacecraft, luxury vehicles, mining equipment and hydroponic technology.
Whilst they weave into the market, various ambassadors and representatives look to improve relationships with the current powerhouses of the mainland.
No longer defended by their Angels in orbit, pacifism has caused political pressure from the primary factions who seek trade agreements and exclusivity
Knowledge and Craftsmanship define the Mauthian people. Their attention to detail and dedication to self-improvement is rarely matched. Many exports of the island are entirely hand crafted, the fact being a national pride between both Danthicals and Humans.
This artistic vision stretches into daily life, with even their factories and machines either hand painted or delicately plated in Mirasteel.
High education is the foundation of their success, 70% of the population having received a university level degree even within the rural sectors of the region.
