So are there any specific encounter can be a piece of critique, it can be a particular failure or maybe it’s, you know do you remember any particular setbacks that are, you know that had a profound impact on you? And how do you eventually sort of resolve and overcome that diffculty in your research group?
Masaki’s Answer:
So this one blind participant well she was really supportive but at the same time She really criticized a lot of researchers mentioning that a lot of researchers conduct user study because to write a paper so they are doing a research for research not for blind people.
You never learn what challenges blind people are facing to form these movies and papers. You have to feel it.And in order to feel it,you have to meet them and talk to them. It’s the best way to discuss with them and see how challenging it is for them to navigare just even a straight corridor.
I don't think much people would be interested in accessibility.I’ve seen a lot of students,I’ve talked to a lot of people talked about how great accessibility research is.Sadly,I only found two students who would work with me to continue my passion.
Do you mind telling us a little bit more about this sense of obligarion you feel to do this research especially for the blind community?
Masaki’s Answer:
The first thing is that society talks a lot about inclusivity, diversity.
But how many people, how many facilites does actually do the accessibility stuff?
Is this building really accessible?
Is the airport really accessible?
Is people talking about diversity really accessible?
We have to make it into action not only talk about it.
And to be honest, form my perspective I don’t really see people really doing accessibility
people talk about it.
