Using a default map

Why a default map? 🧐

We've spoken to hundreds of event organizers to determine how Gatherly can best fit their needs. From poster fairs to networking events to virtual offices, we've seen how versatile our platform can be in facilitating interaction.

The default maps below have been created by our design team after extensive testing and multiple iterations. This versatile selection fits the vast majority of events we see hosted on Gatherly. Still not convinced? Each and every default map has been tested in real events by thousands of attendees, so you can rest assured knowing that your attendees won't be the guinea pigs!

For the vast majority of use cases, we highly recommend using one of the default designs. As an event organizer, you've already got a lot on your plate! While making a custom map can be exciting, there is definitely an extra time commitment required.

If you choose to proceed, be sure to follow all of our design guidelines outlined below to ensure that your attendees have a blast on Gatherly!

Making your own map

Make sure your map designs use lighter and less similar colors so that the attendees' avatars are still visible on top. If the colors are too dark or similar in hue, the attendees will blend in. This contrast rule applies to logos, graphics, and text, and becomes increasingly more important with more complex designs.

This can easily be fixed by picking lighter hues or changing the opacity of graphics. See the simple improvements below:
