Adjusting Privacy Settings

📌 Many devices come with privacy settings already set to maximize security and privacy.

A few that you may want to adjust yourself include the Lock Screen, Biometric access, and Permission Manager

  1. Open your device settings by finding the Settings app icon, or by swiping down on the screen to pull up the menu and finding the Gear Icon ⚙.

  2. Look on the Menu and tap the “Security and Privacy” tab.

  3. Select the Lock Screen tab. Follow the prompts to set up your lock screen password.

  4. Select the type of Password you would like. It can be a Pin #, Password, or a Pattern. Biometric, or face scan, is also an option, but it will first prompt you to create a pin or password.

Steps to Manage App Permissions

Different apps utilize data from various features on your phone, including location, voice recognition, and your camera. For many of these apps, they need these features in order to function. However, you can manually turn on and off permissions for each app.

  1. Open Settings: Navigate to the "Settings" app on your tablet.

  2. Select “Security and Privacy” on the side menu. Near the bottom, select the “Permission Manager” tab.

  3. Choose the Permission Type: Tap on the specific permission you want to manage app access to. For this example, we will use the “Camera”.

  4. Modify Permissions: Here you can see all the apps that has permission to access your camera, or other feature. You can select an app to alter the permissions it has. For this example, we will select “Messages”.

  5. Select when to allow access: You can set it to ask each time, or allow only when in use. You can also set it to never have access to your camera. Keep in mind, this will make some features unusable, such as taking a picture to send in a text through the messenger app.
