Current Status
- POC #4 on two different sized prototype PCB = ✅
Up Next
- Pick a PCB size (3x7cm vs 2x8cm) and create a case;
Introduction
- My daughter uses a wheelchair, it has an anti-tilt protection usually folded out (it's an arm that stretches beyond the wheel and keeps the wheelchair from tilting back);
- We need to help her up and down stairs and in order to be able to roll over the steps, the anti-tilt protection needs to be folded in;
- If the protection is left folded in, there is a high chance of her making the chair tilt back and high risk of a serious injury to her head;
- We need an alerting/notification mechanism to let the user and the helping hand know that the protection is not in its safe position;
- I am currently calling it: Wheelchair safety buzzer
Rough Idea
- The current mechanism is made of a spring-loaded tube inside another and locking at 180 degrees rotations;
- Attach a sensor to the top one and the magnet to the bottom one;
- Whenever they are not in close proximity, there is a constant notification until the protection is folded into its safe position;
- Side note: Eventually consider adaptability for other wheelchair models;
