Overview

In this class we will learn how to make your own custom 3D models that we will then 3D print in real life using Fractal’s in-house 3D printer!

3D printing can be used in all sorts of applications, such as jewelry, sculpture, model making, ceramic and metal casting, and much much more.

This class serves as a thorough introduction to Blender, which is FREE and an industry standard ****3D modeling program. In addition to 3D printing your models, the skills you will learn can also be further developed for all sorts of applications such as:

And whatever other cool fun projects you might be dreaming up!

Goals

By the end of class you will know the basics of 3D modeling in Blender and 3D printing. You will learn how to take a creative idea from a sketch or reference image into a fully realized 3D model that can be used for 3D printing and more!

The course will focus on both artistic principles and expressing your creativity while also learning the technical tools and workflows required to bring your ideas to life.

During the course you will complete multiple practice 3D models and 3D prints to build your skills. Once we have a solid understanding of the 3D modeling and printing process, you will choose and present an idea for a custom 3D model of your own. During the rest of class we will continue to learn more advanced skills that will help you grow as a 3D modeler. Toward the end of the course we will incorporate the 3D printing process into the demos and workshops to learn how to use the printer for making your own prints.
