• [DUNGEON] is widely known for having anything anyone could possibly want in its bowels; riches, power, remedies, anything. However, few actually survive its challenges to get their rewards. Around it, [DUNGEON-CITY-NAME] was founded.

  • The player character (henceforth “MC”), an unnamed person of unspecified origins, comes to [DUNGEON-CITY-NAME] for their own personal, unexplained reasons.

  • A scholar contacts MC once they level up for the first time, explaining a little bit about the properties of the dungeon: it can realize wishes, but only simple ones in the upper layers. Whatever mc and friends want, it is possible to obtain it, but only in the deepest layer. The scholar offers to help MC, as arcane knowledge is necessary to get the dungeon to work in the proper manner, but in exchange, they want to have their wishes realized too.

  • As MC goes deeper in the dungeon, the scholar reveals more about the nature of that place, but MC also gets to know that the scholar isn’t very well-liked by the ruler of the city, and there are suspicious things about them.

  • As MC goes even deeper, the ruler of the city lets them know that the scholar isn’t trustworthy and that MC should help him instead.

  • MC has 2 factions to choose from after this point: scholar or ruler. The objectives are the same, but the people giving these quests are not.

  • Final layer: the player discovers that the dungeon leads to another world, ruled by lovecraftian horrors, and that the dungeon is capable of granting wishes because a tiny, minuscule fraction of these horrors’ power flows through it.

  • Endings:

    • A) Scholar: after discovering the truth, the scholar becomes the ruler of the city, evacuates everyone from there, prohibits anyone from approaching the region, and creates a machine to safely syphon the magic out of the dungeon without letting humanity be noticed by the lovecraftian horrors. (subversion of the “crazy scientist” and “Obvious Villain, Secret Villain” tropes)
    • B) Ruler: Ruler tries to obtain even more power to conquer the whole world, expands the connection between the mortal realm and the world of immortals, the lovecraftian horrors destroy all humanity.
    • Note: each surviving side character also gets their own slides at the end of the story, varying depending on whether the player got ending A or B + their affection level with MC.
    • Note 2: MC is implied to have their wish, whatever it was, granted, and then they vanish alone or with their girlfriend, if they have one.
