Maori.

Character name meaning: From the legend of creation. She is the Earth mother who gave birth to the seven sister stars, or the constellation, Matariki. Her son, Kewa planted the stars into the sky from a woven basket.

Brief traits: She proudly wears the moko kauae, or a traditional tribal ink tattoo on her chin. This was a symbol of transitioning into womanhood. She is wise and well spoken. She is opinionated and speaks her mind. She is a voice of reason and is a type which doesn’t tolerate b.s.

Symbol: Manania “Manaia are considered the messenger between the Gods and mortals. In Māori culture the bird is thought to be an omen-carrier or intermediary between man and the spirits. Often they are carved with three fingers which are believed to represent birth, life and death. The Manaia is seen as the guide that leads the spirits to heaven.”
