For this VR Project, I decided to make a replica of the fashion studio where I spent over a year working on my thesis project in college. I definitely consider this studio as one of my homes in New York City, where I pulled numerous all-nighters with friends, created so many good or bad memories and created my debut fashion collections.
In the building process, I first drew the basic interior, mannequins, garments and some basic constructions in Tilt Brush. I uploaded to Google Poly and brought the scene into Unity. Then I collected several 3D objects to fill up the room and made the room look more like a fashion studio. I 3D scanned myself and put my model into Mixamo to add various animations to the characters. I brought in those characters into the studio and tried to express different emotions I was feeling when I used to work there. For the lighting I added several point lights and spot lights and baked them into the scene to make the whole studio a little bit like a dream-like memory far far away.
Lastly, I added a movement script (XR Player Controller) to the XR rig camera which enable the audience to actually move in the room by using the joystick and buttons of Oculus Quest controllers. People can use the right hand joystick to pivot the point of view and direction, while using the left hand joystick to move and Button X to jump in the scene. There is also one grabbable llama hidden in the scene that the audience can use the trigger button to pick up the llama and shoot bubbles from its mouth.
