Session Overview

Sam requested a comprehensive cleanup and organization of his personal Mac files across three folders: Desktop, Documents, and Downloads. The goal was to visually examine every screenshot, rename files descriptively, group them into logical folders, delete junk, remove duplicates, and reclaim disk space. The session spanned multiple phases, starting with Desktop screenshots and expanding to a full audit of Documents and Downloads. Total space recovered: approximately 22.3 GB.

This was a large, multi-phase project. The work on Desktop and Documents is complete. Downloads Phase 1 (large files, installers, video duplicates) is complete. Downloads Phase 2 (empty folders, duplicate zips, duplicate documents, loose file organization) was approved by Sam but not yet executed when the session ran out of context.

What Was Accomplished

Desktop (Complete)

83 loose screenshots spanning Dec 13, 2025 to Feb 7, 2026 were visually examined using parallel subagents. Each screenshot was opened and its contents identified. Files were then renamed with descriptive filenames and sorted into 7 folders:

Six screen recordings (.mov files) and one .zip were left in place on the Desktop, as they were not part of the screenshot organization scope.

Documents (Complete)

The Documents folder was 1.7 GB with 28,610 files. Key cleanup actions:
