Text

The first time I saw you was at the end of our troupe's premiere performance at this small theater. The main cast members were bowing to the audience when confetti and streamers suddenly rained down from above.

The enthusiastic audience and fans of the famous actors rushed to the front of the stage to present flowers.

And I am just a new actor who has been in the industry for only six months, with no fame whatsoever.

Those roses weren't for me, and the cheers weren't directed at me. All I could do was stand awkwardly in the far corner and clap for others.

When it was time to take their bows, the audience was illuminated by lights from front to back. I saw you sitting in the middle of the front row. When the fans on either side of you rushed toward the stage, you were the only one who remained in the empty front row.

The first row was not far from the stage, and I could even see the expression on your face—some regret, some annoyance, and some envy. It was as if you were blaming yourself for not preparing in advance and not buying a bouquet of flowers.

After the performance, a large crowd of fans surrounded the theater's staff entrance, demanding autographs. When I finally managed to push my way through the frenzied fans, I saw you standing at the very edge, holding the ticket from the performance and a pen for autographs, your face filled with the conflict of wanting to try but not daring to.
