Femoral Nerve
Motor - Hip flexion, Knee extension; supplies anterior compartment of the thigh (i.e., quadriceps femoris, satorius, pectineus)
Sensory - anterior and medial aspect of the thigh and medial aspect of leg via saphenous branch
Superior Gluteal Nerve
Motor only- Hip abduction
damage in case of:
misplaced IM injection, hip surgery, pelvic #, posterior hip dislocation
positive Trendelenburg sign
Inferior Gluteal Nerve
Motor only - Hip extension and lateral rotation
injured in association with the sciatic nerve
difficulty rising from seated position
can't jump, can't climb stairs
Obturator Nerve
Motor - adduction of the thigh
Sensory - small area over medial thigh
Anterior hip dislocation can damage obturator nerve
