When you go to make a new list, you must answer two questions: “What is this list of?” and “By what criteria is this list ranked by?”. The resulting list’s name is composited from your answers.
Example names:
Ranked By defaults to “Best to Worst”. In that case, those list names would become:
The reason being, when you are talking about a ranking of sandwiches or laptops, if there is no qualifier, you are talking about ranking them from best to worst.
On list pages we append the view type to these list names, so they would read something like this depending on if you are on a tier list or ranked lists page:
