Lexi was a mute priest in Lothering Chantry. When fleeing to Kirkwall, it was hard to communicate as no one knew them, compared to Lothering village. They directly joined the templars there, as a way to make sure to protect Bethany from the rest of them. When Sebastian asked for help from Grand Cleric Elthina, they proposed to assist him in his cause. Maybe because they understood the pain of losing family, or maybe it was simple generosity from a believer to another, but their bonds grew over the years after this. When he went back to conquer his country, Lexi was there again to assist Sebastian. After the fights and wars that lead to him being the official leader of his country, they got engaged.

<aside> ⚠️ In this worldstate, the Hawkes are a foster family name for orphans from the Lothering orphanage! Carver/Bethany are twins, but Lexi isn’t related to them by blood. And none of them is related to Leandra neither. She was someone looking after the orphanage kids and most of them got wiped out by darkspawn while escaping Lothering in 9:30.
