The green tea we serve in our cabins comes from the mountains of the Kyushu region, Notsu, Usuki City in Ōita Prefecture, where it has been lovingly cultivated for decades by the grandparents of one of our members, the Takahashi family.

私たちがキャビンで提供している緑茶は、大分県臼杵市野津町の山あいで、A Cabin Companyのメンバーの一人の祖父母である髙橋さんご夫婦が何十年もかけて大切に育ててきたものです。

This region enjoys the richness of all four seasons. The misty mornings and clear, fresh air give the tea leaves their gentle aroma and deep flavor.

この地は四季の移ろいが美しく、霧に包まれた朝と澄んだ空気が、茶葉にやさしい香りと深い味わいをもたらします。

Every May, during the tea-harvesting season, relatives and local community members come together to work in the mountain fields. There, a warm spirit of cooperation lives on—like one big family.

5月の茶刈りの季節には、親戚や地域の人々が山の茶畑に集まり、まるで一つの家族のように心をひとつにして作業を行います。

The tea is named Kicchomu Monogatari, after Kicchomu-san—the clever and witty hero of a local folktale passed down in this area.

このお茶は「吉四六物語」と名づけられています。地域に古くから伝わる民話の主人公・吉四六さんにちなんだ名前です。

Known for his quick thinking and playful spirit, Kicchomu-san outsmarts trouble with humor and satire. Like its namesake, this tea carries a gentle warmth and a quiet, lingering charm. 吉四六さんは、機転とユーモアで村の問題を鮮やかに切り抜ける、ユーモアたっぷりの人物です。そんな吉四六さんのように、お茶もまた、やさしさとじんわり心に残る余韻をもっています。

Until now, the Takahashi family’s tea had never been sold in stores. It was passed gently from person to person through personal connections. これまで髙橋家のお茶は一度も店頭に並ぶことなく、ご縁のある人から人へ、手渡しで静かに受け継がれてきました。

But times are changing. In 2025, they made the difficult decision to let go of four of their five tea fields due to aging and falling prices. しかし、時代の流れと共に、2025年には高齢化やお茶の価格下落を背景に、五つあった茶畑のうち四つを手放す決断をされました。

Across Japan, many small-scale, deeply rooted traditions are quietly disappearing. 日本各地で、こうした手間のかかる伝統や文化が静かに姿を消しつつあります。
