Prioritization is an important skill for just this kind of situation. As you practice prioritizing, your ability to evaluate what's most important will improve over time.

The Eisenhower Matrix is a great place to start learning the skill of prioritization. The Eisenhower matrix specifies that a task is either important, or not important; and it is either urgent or not urgent. That makes for four possible options for any given task (important/urgent, important/not urgent, not important/urgent, and not important/not urgent). How you should approach your task differs based on based on which of these four categories that task falls into:
