Corey Wood (he/him)

Co-President

I'm a sophomore on leave, potentially studying Computer Science, Economics, or something else entirely. I've been a facilitator for the In-Depth Fellowship, and now am a co-president especially focused on developing a new version of the In-Depth Fellowship. I'm particularly interested in longtermism and existential risk, especially risks from AI and other emerging technologies. On campus, I'm also involved with Meiklejohn Leadership and play Ultimate frisbee. I'm also a big fan of cats, tea, and vegetarian cooking!

Emma Abele (she/her)

Former president, Career Mentor, and Advisor

I'm a Brown grad ('20 Mechanical Engineering) who ran Brown EA part-time on a community-building grant from the Center for Effective Altruism. In addition to EA community building, I'm working on a cultivated meat project, and volunteering for ALLFED. I co-founded EA Brown in Fall 2019 and I'm super excited about how it's been growing!

Mehak Malhotra (she/her)

Project Director

I’m a freshman, currently undecided, but hoping to study neuroscience/biopsychology. I’m interested in using the study of human behaviour to influence large-scale changes in attitudes towards modern problems and the achievement of ethical lifestyles. During my gap year, I worked on projects in public health, prison rehabilitation, refugee rights, microfinance, and anti-sex trafficking. I hope to continue working on human rights projects at Brown too. This Fall, I'll be leading the SHIPs program (Self-directed High Impact Projects).

They are interested in hypersonics, bioweapons, dangers of social media, and the governance of other major technologies. Daniel co-wrote and co-taught the EA GISP in Spring 2020 and was an Intro Fellowship facilitator in Summer 2020. They are also involved in the Brown Animal Rights Coalition (BARC). Definitely talk to them about classical music or language acquisition!
