#Random events can be triggered at most two times per dungeon dive, so they won’t repeat too many times.
Visual Description
The main character sees himself before a branching path within the dungeon, holding a torch. Both ways are dark, to symbolize the uncertainty of the situation and the weight of choice.
-
Dangling fruit
- Narration: “Through the lavish greenery that ever so slowly eats away at the beautifully intricate architecture around you, you see a perfectly round red fruit dangling from a branch that grows from the wall, glistening divinely. Examine the fruit?”
- #Player choice:
- “Yes.”
- Narration: “You wrap your fingers around the fruit, and pluck it from its branch. Seconds later, a dozen hard thorns sprang from the inside of the fruit, embedding themselves deep in your palm and drinking your blood. As you shake your hand wildly and throw the spiky fruit away, it quickly grows into a juvenile Vampiric Tree.”
- #combat starts against Vampiric Tree, but mc has lost some hp.
- #End event.
- “No.”
- “You bypass the fruit, paying no more attention to it, than to the blankets of moss beneath your boots.”
- #End event.
-
Slime mold-covered corridor
- Narration: “The corridor ahead is nearly completely covered by the same yellow slime mold that controls the crustacean statues that roam around, but you see no enemies around, and this is the fastest route deeper into the dungeon. Follow through the corridor, or look for alternative pathways?”
- #Player choice:
- “Follow through the corridor.”
- Narration: “As you reach the halfway point in the corridor, the tiles from the ground and the bricks from the ceiling fly off their place, moved by the slime mold, and the corridor itself chews on you and your party. You take a shortcut, but not for free.”
- #Whole party suffers small damage, but the player can skip one “room” on the map.
- “Look for alternative pathways.”
- Narration: “You turn around and look for other routes.”
- #End event.
- #You continue in the same “room” on the map, and the RNG to determine what you’ll fight or if you’ll have to do a puzzle rolls again.
-
Jewel found in a hole.
- Narration: “The light coming from the bioluminescent moss on the sceling is reflected by something in a crack in the ground, a jewel lost by an adventurer or by the dungeon builders long ago. Other than the jewel, however, you can’t see anything else in the dark hole. Reach for the jewel?”
- #Player choice:
- “Yes.”
- “You grab the precious stone, but before you can pull it off the hole, a slimy, slender creature viciously bites at your arm; you’re attacked by a Brain leech.”
- #fight against a brain leech. When won, the player obtains a precious stone that can be sold.
- #End event.
- “No.”
- “Knowing better than putting your hand into random cracks in the dungeon, you move on.”
- #End event
-
Stairs that weren’t supposed to be there.
- Narration: “Strangely, even though you were supposed to be right below the sprawling city of Tall Hill, you find a set of stairs going up, to where the surface should be, and it isn’t the Dungeon entrance. Go upstairs?”
- #Player choice:
- “Yes.”
- Narration: “You stand upon the first step, then the second, then… Blank. You’re back in the dungeon corridor from before, but there are no stairs to be found, and even though you’re seemingly healthy, whenever you try to remember what came after that second step, you’re wracked by a skull-splitting headache.”
- #Player gets “Dungeon Amnesia”. This effect has 2 versions. “Version A: effect: Allows the player to see the dungeon layout up to 3 ‘room’ ahead in their map”, “Version B: effect: jungles up the dungeon map”.
- #end event.
- “No.”
- Narration: “You walk away, and when you look over your shoulders, curious, the stairs are no longer there.”
- #end event.
-
Broken wall.
- Narration: “Something big seemed to have slashed clean through stone and mortar. Follow its steps?”
- #Player option:
- “Yes.”
- Narration: “You follow the trail of destruction, but clean-cut stone soon becomes slashed meat. Blood marks the path ahead. Continue to follow it?”
- #Player choice:
- “Yes.”
- Narration: “Your curiosity takes you to a cave-like alcove in the wall, inside of which echoes crunching sounds. It’s too late to run away now. It has already seen you.”
- #battle against Apex One.
- #End event.
- “No.”
- Narration: “You move on and leave the eerie cutting marks behind.”
- #End event.
- “No.”
- Narration: “You move on, and leave the eerie cutting marks behind.”
- #End event.
-
Poisoned adventurer
- Narration: “From the next corner, a despaired dungeon diver comes around, wounded, and falls to their knees before you. They beg for an antiparasite potion. Give the potions to them?”
- Narration: “From the next corner, a despaired dungeon diver comes around, wounded, and falls to their knees before you. They beg for an antiparasite and a healing potion. Give the potions to them?”
- #player choice:
- “Yes.” (Only available if the player has the potions)
- Narration: “After eagerly drinking the potions, the dungeon diver gets back up and pays you back with a handful of coins, full of gratitude. They head towards the exit with a smile on their face.”
- #mc gets some money.
- #end event.
- “No.”
- Narration: “The dungeon diver stares at you, wide-eyed and pale as snow. Seconds later, his body is split open by a swarm of waspiders eating him from the inside out.”
- #battle against waspiders.
- #End interaction.
-
Secret treasure chest
- Narration: “As you pass by one of the many skeletons scattered through the Dungeon corridors, one in particular catches your eye, as it is holding a small treasure chest. Reach for the treasure chest?”
- #player choice:
- “Yes.”
- Narration: “You grab the chest from the clutches of a fallen fellow dungeon diver, and find the meager treasure someone risked everything to obtain.”
- #player gets some treasure
- #end event.
- “No.”
- Narration: “You leave the dead to hold onto the only reward they found in The Penitence, and move along.”
-
Hole in the ground.
- Narration: “You stumble upon a particularly deep crack in the ground; you never hear the pebbles quickened in hitting the bottom. Do you take a peek in the crack?”
- #Player choice:
- “Yes.”
- “No.”
