We’re looking for volunteers to join the Launch Community Organisers. This is a six-month opportunity to help grow a welcoming, joyful, and unlikely community in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland alongside others who care about connection, trying new things, and showing up with intention. You don’t need experience, just curiosity, care, and 5-10 hours a month. Read on to learn more, or skip straight to the Expression of Interest form.

Each organiser joins one of four small teams, depending on your interests:

You don’t have to be “that person” already. This is about learning with others and building together.

About the Launch Community Organisers

The Launch Community is a volunteer-led space for connection and community in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Our gatherings are designed to be welcoming, joyful, and grounded in real human connection.

Over the last two years, we’ve grown! And for the first time, we’re inviting volunteers to step into roles in a more formal way – by inviting Launch Community members and new friends to become Launch Community Organisers.

You don’t need experience, just enthusiasm, reliability, and a desire to learn. We especially welcome people who’ve never done anything like this before. You don’t need to be extroverted, artsy, or already “good” at organising. What matters most is your care for people and willingness to try.

What is the Launch Community?

The Launch Community is an experiment in what becomes possible when we practice community with people we don’t already know. It’s built on the belief that we need each other not just in crisis, but in everyday life. That isolation and individualism wear us down, and that connection, especially across different experiences, makes us stronger.

Most communities form around shared interests or identities. We call the Launch Community an unlikely community, made up of people with different backgrounds, life paths, and experiences, who are all showing up with curiosity and care.

📜 Read the Launch Community Guidelines.pdf to get more of the vibe.

Our community is built on practice - we're developing the skills to cultivate belonging with others - with no training wheels. We’re building a culture of encouragement, reciprocity, and support for whatever each of us is trying to grow. You don’t need to be “launching” anything in particular. The Launch Community is about creating your launch pad through community for whatever you want to pursue.

We host monthly gatherings to welcome new people in, and in between, we bring the wider community together to deepen our relationships.
