Flying In and Out of Vegas

Flights to Vegas, especially from the Bay Area, can often be cheap.

If taking no-frills flights (ex. Frontier, Spirit), make sure to be aware of common issues when booking these flights:

• It is ESSENTIAL to arrive at the airport early for no-frills flights for checking in. For some reason, these airlines do not always provide the option for passengers to check in online, so passengers must check in person. However, sometimes the automated self-serve touchscreen computers at the terminal are disabled and require an agent to be present. Unfortunately, these no-frills airlines do not always have an agent present as these agents may be the same agents that work inside the security area at the gate of the flight ! Thus, passengers arriving within an hour of a flight might find themselves not being able to check in for a flight.
• No-frills airlines often have delays
• Requesting refunds is a complete pain with long phone call wait times; these airlines tend to, at most, provide credit for future flights
• No-frills airlines tend to not allow carry-on luggage, only personal items

Some travelers prefer to purchase slightly more expensive flights with more renown airlines (ex. Alaska, etc.) to avoid the hassles described above.

Hotels

Many casinos tend to have decent hotel rates compared to typical hotel chains. However, be aware that casinos tend to charge “casino fees” for their hotel rates.

Commonly, travel websites (ex. Expedia, etc.) do not include the casino fees in the advertised rates until the user has reached the checkout page.
