This is the ultimate "Welcome to the Mountains" stop.
- Arrival: We arrived around 12:30 PM—perfect timing to fuel up before seeing the lake.
- Lunch at Carezza Snack: Located just before you enter the main lake area.
- The Verdict: We are usually skeptical of "tourist trap" dining near major attractions, but this place proved us wrong! The quality was excellent and the food was incredibly tasty.
- What to Order: We shared the Goulash soup and a trio of Canederli (traditional Tyrolean dumplings). The spinach one was great, but the two Speck (cured ham) dumplings were my favourite!

- The Experience: To put it simply—wow. I had to pick my jaw off the floor. The colors of the water against the backdrop of the Latemar mountains are truly breathtaking and totally live up to the hype.
- The Walk: There is a path that circles the entire lake. It’s a very easy, flat walk and suitable for everyone.
- Pro Tip: We were shocked at how busy it was even in October. If you are visiting in the peak Spring or Summer months, you’ll definitely want to arrive very early in the morning to beat the crowds and secure a parking spot.
See it in motion: Photos truly don't do these colors justice! To see the "Rainbow Lake" vibe and the incredible mountain backdrop in video, check out my TikTok here.
