Organizing OUs and Applying Group Policies in Active Directory
🎯 Objective
This project focused on structuring an Active Directory environment to reflect departmental boundaries and enforce user-specific policies. As a system administrator, I created and managed Organizational Units (OUs), assigned users and computers to their respective containers, and applied Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to control system behavior and enforce security standards across different departments.
🛠️ Skills Learned
- Creation and organization of OUs in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC).
- User and computer object management within a domain structure.
- Design and implementation of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) tailored to specific departments.
- Linking and enforcing GPOs for targeted OU application.
- Verification of domain user identity and policy application.
- Inspection of domain-wide default password policies using Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
⚙️ Tools Used
- Windows Server 2019 – Host system for Active Directory configuration.
- Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) – For OU and object management.
- Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) – For GPO creation, linking, and enforcement.
- VMware Workstation – Virtualized environment for lab simulation.
- Command-line tools – For user verification and system policy checks.
