❓Frequently asked questions

What does locally recorded mean?

That the recording is done locally on each participant's device before being sent to our cloud. This means that the recorded media will look and sound perfect, even if the network connection isn't great during the interview.

<aside> 💡 The audio and video you hear and see during the interview will be lower quality than the recorded tracks.

Will I get a separate track for each participant?

Yes, you will get a separate high-quality .wav audio track and .mp4 video track of each participant. We also ensure that the tracks are kept in perfect sync, eliminating audio/video drift.

Do I need to download anything?

No, Remotely runs entirely in your browser.

Do my guests have to create an account?

No, they can join the session right away without creating an account.

Can I still see the other guests while only recording audio?

Yes!

🎙️ Audio Recording

Audio is recorded locally in uncompressed .wav format (at 44.1kHz, 16-bit depth).

Echo cancellation

Before joining a session each participant has to select if they are using headphones. If a user is not using headphones **we automatically enable echo cancellation which reduces feedback between the participant's microphone and speakers.

<aside> 💡 Echo cancellation will reduce your recorded audio quality if you speak at the same time as someone else. For this reason it's strongly recommended to use headphones when possible.
