FAMILY DETAILS:

Sa’nop: After discovering that Sa'nop was his father thanks to a dish that turned out to be extremely familiar, Kemui had to take some time to process it, as he felt as if Sa'nop had abandoned him, Aha'ri, and his mother. He almost felt that everything that happened was Sa'nop's fault. However, over time, Kemui understood that there was no way Sa'nop could know what would happen, and that Kataru probably wouldn't mind Sa'nop continuing his travels. Gradually the relationship solidified, and now Sa'nop visits Kemui at the River Delta laboratory every weekend. Koranu: Sa'nop told Kemui that he had a half-sister; Koranu, whom Kemui had met the first time he visited the Aranahe Hometree. Since their friendship had already blossomed without them knowing they were half-siblings, discovering this didn't change much; rather, it strengthened their bond and allowed them both to learn much more from each other. Koranu learned about Aha'ri and Kemui’s years at the TAP. Kemui learned about nomadic life and how to weave. Koranu also occasionally visited Kemui on the River Delta, and later she wove every single bag in which Kemui would carry provisions when leaving the Western Frontier, as well as his travel clothes. Tamtey: At some point in his early days on Pandora, Kemui meets Tamtey, a Sarentu survivor from another TAP facility. She is his sister, a third daughter of Kataru whom neither Aha'ri nor Kemui knew about. This shocked Kemui, as he only knew Aha'ri, and Tamtey reminded him a lot of her. He couldn't look her in the eyes, those same blue eyes of Aha'ri. However, both participated in most of the major events on the Western Frontier and eventually grew closer, along with Ri’nela and Teylan. When Kemui left to explore the rest of Pandora, Tamtey was left in the Western Frontier, promising Kemui to protect it while he is away.

LOSING SOMEONE CLOSE:

Sa’nop & Koranu: Upon returning to Kinglor Forest after receiving Teylan’s message, Kemui was greeted by So’lek and the others at the survivors’ camp. Kemui felt inmense relief to see his Sarentu family safe, as well as Etuwa, Ka’nat, Nefika and other Aranahe. But two in particular were missing. ”So’lek, where are Sa’nop and Koranu?” Kemui asked, still clinging to a silver of hope. So'lek led Kemui to the area where the bodies of the deceased were kept. They were wrapped in fiber blankets woven by the Aranahe. He uncovered two bodies that were lying together; those of Sa'nop and Koranu. ”I found Koranu in Hometree, I was late… And I did everything I could to save Sa’nop. I failed…” So’lek explained, guilt made his voice tremble. Kemui fell to his knees, letting out a cry of pain. He had lost part of his family, those he had only recently met. He mourned for weeks, having performed the Aranahe funeral rites. He did not remove his funeral paint during all those weeks. He doesn't blame So'lek for their deaths, but he does wish he had been there. He wishes he could have done something. Alma: ”Kemui, it’s Ri’nela. Can we talk? I’m waiting for you in the Storyteller’s Stone” Was what he heard in his radio. He flew there, and met Ri'nela. ”I brought you here because… I’m not ready to let Teylan know” She said. ”What do you mean? What’s wrong?” Kemui asked. Ri’nela took a deep breath, and looked directly at him. ”We lost Alma. Nor did it” Kemui felt as if a bucket of cold water had been thrown on him. Ri'nela explained that it was actually an RDA raid, but that Nor consciously destroyed the door system so that Alma couldn't escape. And that Teylan knows that Alma is gone, but not that Nor was involved. Kemui knew Nor was lost, but he hadn't expected it to be this bad. Even so, deep down, Kemui felt a weight lift from his shoulders with Alma's death. As if he could finally put that part of his story behind him.

Role in story: Na’vi warrior and member of The Resistance in the Western Frontier

Background: Being stolen since he was a baby along with his sister Aha’ri and other children from the Sarentu Clan, Kemui grew up in a RDA TAP complex. A school made by humans for Na’vi, with the goal of training them as double agents for the RDA. Alma Cortez in her Na’vi Avatar was their teacher, who took care of them. Kemui didn’t remember much about his life before the TAP since he was just a little baby. The next core memory he has is his sister; Aha’ri, being killed by John Mercer; leader of the TAP operation, when they were trying to escape as kids. Just years later, the Hallelujah Mountains Battle happened, and Mercer tried to end the remaining Sarentu children, but Alma saved them and put them in cryosleep for 16 years.

Any other details: While his friend Ri’nela is considered the current Tsahik of the Sarentu, Kemui is considered the Olo’eyktan for his doings to help the Western Frontier, though he refuses to take on that title. He thinks more of himself as a warrior than a leader.

He also resents Teylan, who betrayed the Resistance by revealing the location of the first headquarters to Mercer. However, thanks to this, the truth about what really happened to the Sarentu Clan and the truth about Alma was revealed. Still, he remains puzzled as to why Teylan continues to trust Mercer and the RDA after all the manipulation and abuse they suffered. Although he believes he is beginning to understand.

Story: He fought valiantly in the Battle for the Western Frontier, alongside the Aranahe, Zeswa, and Kame'tire clans, as well as So'lek and The Resistance. It was here when Kemui lost faith in Teylan. Even though he helped in battle, when they were about to leave Mercer to die, Teylan hesitated to leave him. The Na'vi won the battle. A victory for the Western Frontier, and for the Sarentu as a resurgent clan.

Kemui fought valiantly to expel the remaining RDA from the Western Frontier. During his travels, Kemui encountered Sa'nop, a traveling Na'vi from Clan Aranahe. Sa'nop recognized something in Kemui's eyes; or rather, someone—Kataru. Sa'nop is the father of Kemui and Aha'ri, making them half-siblings of Koranu.

The Sky Breaker: Months later, Kemui was invited to the Great Games of the Zeswa when the Zakrus migrated to the Heart of the Plains, where Kemui had to stop Colonel Angela Harding once and for all. It wasn’t easy, and many Zeswa and Zakru passed when the Valkyrie sabotaged with explosives fell on The Great Games camp. But with help from all the clans, Kemui was able to rescue Alma and Anufi and defeat Harding, sadly losing Mokasa in the process.

Secrets of the Spires: Later, he would travel to The Spires of the Clouded Forest, in order to help Anufi to find the lost Ke’awa Kame’tire that left the clan when the Sarentu Massacre happened, where he would once again have to thwart the RDA's plans and deepen his bond with Storm, his ikran. However, after successfully stopping an RDA base, Kemui and Storm were ambushed by an RDA air squadron. They fired, and no matter how hard Kemui tried to guide Storm to dodge them, it wasn't enough. Storm died in the attack, and Kemui fell unconscious in the forest. That’s when he meets another lost Sarentu, Rasi, who after years of solitude punishing herself for supposedly betraying the clan, joins the rebirth of the Sarentu clan. Kemui successfully bonded with a new ikran; Amay, with whom he is now working to strengthen their bond.

Currently: After returning to the Kinglor Forest and living in River Delta Station for a while, Kemui decided he wanted to explore Pandora, leaving his Sarentu family behind, vowing to return someday. After months of crossing the continent, his last stop was Awa'atlu on the eastern coast. He was greeted by the chiefs of the Metkayina clan; the water people, Tonowari, and Ronal, who were overjoyed to find a Sarentu again after so many years. He learned the way of water and decided to choose there as his living place

This is how he met the Sullys, the family of Toruk Makto who led the Omatikaya clan to victory and who led the Western Frontier Resistance from afar, who are now trying to leave the war that’s following them nehind, and his current partner, Lo'ak Sully.

Fire and Ash/From The Ashes: After months of flying around Pandora, Kemui arrived to the eastern sea villages, mainly inhabited by the Metkayina clan. Landing in the main village; Awa’atlu, Kemui is welcomed by Tonowari, the olo’eyktan, who once met the Sarentu Clan. However, his wife, Ronal, the tsahik, was untrusting (as she always was). By this time, the Battle at the Three Brothers had just happened; so The Sully family continues to mourn the death of their eldest son, Neteyam. This didn’t stop their other son; Lo’ak, and the village leaders’ daughter Tsireya, to teach Kemui the Way of Water. He learned, and adapted, and grew closer to Lo’ak. The Sully family traveled back to the Omatikaya Na'rìng for a couple of weeks; originally to leave their human friend Spider in a safe camp. But when they came back, Spider was with them still, and now he didn’t wear a mask. And he had a kuru. The Tulkun also made an statement, they exiled Payakan, Lo'ak's spiritual brother, permanently from the nearby oceans. This angered Lo'ak, who escaped from the village in search of his friend when Tsireya told him that she had heard that Payakan had been overheard in the distance. Kemui, along with Tsireya, Ao'nung and Rotxo left the village in search of Lo’ak. Who they found in danger. After saving him from drowning, Lo’ak finally learns where Payakan. Back on the seas of Awa'atlu, Kemui, Lo'ak, and the others stood up to the cla leaders and the Tulkun council, explaining that a battle was coming and they needed to fight to protect everyone, in honor of Payakan’s birth clan, whose now only survivor is the blinded Ta’nok. It seemed the Tulkun hadn't listened, but when Jake Sully, as Toruk Makto, led the clans into battle, the great Tulkun came to their aid. However, this is where Kemui first sees the ash people; the Mangkwan, led by their ruthless leader, Varang. And Quaritch also leads this group. The Mangkwan gain the upper hand, but when Kiri manages to communicate with Eywa, the Great Mother sends Pandora's fauna to help. They eventually won the Battle at the Cove of the Ancestors, driving out Varang and the Mangkwan, with Quaritch seemingly defeated. Even so, they suffered losses, including Rotxo, who died in battle, and Ronal, the Metkayina tsahik, who died shortly after forcing herself to give birth, having been seriously wounded. Peace returned to Awa'atlu. But days later, Kemui and Jake receive a message from the Western Frontier Resistance. "We have been attacked by the RDA, who have allied themselves with hostile Na'vi. We have suffered casualties. We hope you can send help.” That's what Kemui heard on the radio. It was Teylan's voice. Without a second thought, Kemui climbed aboard Amay and took flight back west, with Jake's promise to send help. After days of travel, Kemui finally spotted the Kinglor Forest. But it was ravaged. It had changed. It had been burned. He landed at the survivors' camp after communicating with Teylan. The first thing he did was embrace his Sarentu family: Ri'nela, Teylan, Rasi, and So'lek. So'lek had saved everyone he could, including the forest, and Tamtey, Kemui's sister. Words could not express Kemui's gratitude to So'lek. However, Kemui received the devastating news that both his father, Sa'nop, and his half-sister, Koranu, died in the attack. And he also learned of Alma's death (indirectly) at the hands of Nor, who betrayed the trust of So'lek and the others. The pain was profound, but that didn't stop Kemui, So'lek, and the others from helping rebuild Kinglor Forest. They drove away any remaining Mangkwan and RDA, extinguished the fires, and rebuilt camps, with the help of people sent by Jake. This took months, and although he didn't like the idea of leaving his family again, he had to return to Awa'atlu. But he knew he was leaving the Western Frontier in good hands.

IKRAN DETAILS:

Storm: Storm was the first ikran that Kemui bonded with, in the floating mountains of the Kinglor Forest, with the help of Itu. Together they fought every battle on the Western Frontier, their bond growing stronger with each passing minute. They would soar through the skies for hours. However, all this would come to an end on their journey to the Spires of the Clouded Forest. After liberating an RDA base, an air battalion intercepted them and fired mercilessly. They tried to dodge, but Storm was hit. She died instantly. After waking up and being cared for by Rasi, Kemui grievously buried Storm. He wept at her grave for a long time. Too long. Rasi comforted him and encouraged him to try bonding with a new ikran, because he needed it. Amay: Having (forced himself) to cope with Storm's death, Kemui ventured into the floating mountains of the Spires. Performing the ritual again, with a heavy heart, he managed to bond with a new ikran, which he named Amay. Together they finished what Storm and Kemui started, they freed the Spires. After the flight back to Kinglor Forest, Kemui had to take some time before flying with Amay again, but little by little he strengthened their bond, to the point where he trusted Amay enough to let her take him all around Pandora.

RELATIONSHIPS DETAILS:

Teylan: Back in TAP, Kemui usually spent a lot of time with Teylan, mostrly trying to lure him away from human technology as much as he could, but he knew that helped to calm Teylan down. All that time together caused Kemui to develop feelings for Teylan, and unconsciously Teylan began to develop them as well, but neither of them truly understood what they felt. After being placed in cryosleep for over 10 years, upon awakening, these feelings couldn't be the focus of their attention since they had to escape the RDA immediately, and soon after, they began exploring Pandora on their own. Then came the bombing of the Resistance's first base, unwittingly caused by Teylan revealing its location to Mercer and Harding. This shattered Kemui's trust in Teylan, and his feelings for him vanished completely. He felt betrayed. But in time, he was able to forgive Teylan. However, the feelings they once shared never returned. Lo’ak: Kemui met Lo'ak when he came to live in Awa'atlu. But the Lo'ak he met was consumed by guilt and loneliness. He had recently lost his older brother, Neteyam, and subconsciously blamed himself for it. And his father, Jake, blamed him too. though he never said it aloud. Until one night when Lo'ak stood up to the Metkayina leaders and the Tulkun council in defense of his spiritual brother Payakan. After being pulled away from the meeting by Jake, he reprimanded Lo'ak for his impulsiveness, suggesting that if it weren't for that, Neteyam might still be alive. Lo'ak walked away crying; Kemui, along with Kiri and Tsireya, followed him stealthily. On a secluded beach near the village, Lo'ak, desperate and terrified, put a rifle to his chin, ready to shoot himself. His finger trembled hesitantly on the trigger, and eventually he dropped the rifle with a cry of pain. Kemui, Kiri, and Tsireya came to him, hugged him, and made him see that he was needed. Tsireya unearthed the broken bow of Lo'ak's mother, Neytiri, and begged him to repair it, because she knew he could. Over the next few weeks, while Neytiri recovered from an injury, Lo'ak slowly repaired the bow. And Kemui accompanied him throughout the process. After following Lo'ak and rescuing him when he went in search of Payakan, and speaking before the council of Tulkun on behalf of Payakan and Ta'nok, Kemui and Lo'ak fought in the Battle at the Cove of the Ancestors, their relationship has strengthened and developed into a romantic and mutual relationship over time.
