- Hostel Situation
- Sadly, there isn’t enough room for everyone in college hostels. More than 40% of you will have to stay outside especially after they have increased their student intake (4 new branches).
- College hostel management is kind of strict in the beginning, but they get lenient after hostel passes are given.
- Living outside has its own perks like you will have your own freedom and won't have to get papers signed just to leave the campus for a day that too with your hod and stuff.
- From what I have heard from my female friend's, the college hostel is miserable with copious amounts of restrictions (only applies to girls).
- Price range of PGs decreases farther from the college. The really close ones are in range of 6k per month (double sharing). You can find AC rooms, but they are very limited. It’s way cheaper than college hostels but there are tradeoffs.
- Students living outside of the college campus cannot enter after 5 PM. You will need a gate pass.
- Attendance
- You must maintain 75% attendance per subject, no exceptions—fall below it, and you’ll get detained. If that happens in end-sems, you’ll have to cough up 3k per credit for a re-exam and spend your summer break (June–July) attending classes.
- Expect to attend 30–35 hours of classes per week, Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday are off.
- Exam
- Just study 2–3 days before exams, but only if you've attended classes most of the questions come straight from lecture notes, so there’s nothing to stress about.
- Marks distribution is 50% internals and 50% end-sem exams. Mid-sem contributes 40%, which is directly added to your total. The overall marks for each subject depend on its credit—math, for example, has 4 credits, making its total 200 marks, while a 2-credit subject will have 100 total marks.
- Higher credits mean more classes per week.
- Food
- Inside college, you’ve five decent food options Green Chilli Cafe, Nescafe, Big Treats, Hungry Nites, and Healthy Hut.
- Plenty of places to eat outside (most of them are bad) of campus explore them all.
- Fest
- The two major fests are Epoque and Endeavor, with only Endeavor being a paid event organized by E-Cell.
- Innotech CSE ke HOD ka favorite.
- Faculties
- Generally, younger professors = more chill.
- Some faculty members will be a dick for no apparent reason.
- If you get stuck with a bad coordinator, he will call your parents for no apparent reasons.
- Deans just. dont. give. a. fuck. (Avoid CSE and CS worst branches). They will reject your medical and refuse yo help you in any way possible.
- Maintain 75% anyhow or just make a fake medical certificate prior to your leave and inform your coordinator beforehand.
- Clubs
- Avoid clubs like E-Cell, GDG(😍 true spirit of open source forcing you to add fake github stars for their sponsors), and C-Cell they tend to prioritize their own interests, bohot kaam karwaenge.
- Non-technical clubs generally look for prior experience, but they are okay except for fashion societies.
- Odyssey >>>> MUN (if you are into ts may god send you help).
- Innogeeks and Technocrats are good but, wh would you want to attend extra classes after your lectures.
- Things you should know
- mentor (in charge of a group of students within class) —> coordinator (in charge of class) —> academic coordinator (in charge of multiple classes) —> vice HOD (supports HOD / the person to visit if HOD isn’t available) —> HOD (Head of Department)
- For getting your medicals and leave applications approved, you must get them signed by your mentor.
- Random
- Approach and talk to people, who technically intimidate you. That’s like the best way to learn and grow.
- You will have a lot of helpful seniors, don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone. Just don’t get influenced by bad ones.
- SIP’s attendance isn't mandatory.
- Connectivity
- You can order food and essential stuff through Blinkit.
- The RRTS station at Duhai is 5km from college. From there, take a ₹60 ticket to Anand Vihar where you can connect to Delhi Metro's Blue or Pink lines.
- Placement
- Average placements value matches what's reported in NIRF, but the placement percentage doesn’t.
- Only 2–3 companies offer packages above 10 LPA.
- UKG and Cisco provide 12–13 LPA CTC.
- Except for these, all high-paying offers are off-campus. There are more offers that the college didn’t track either because students left early in 3rd year or didn’t sit for college placements.
- The top ones are just there to inflate the stats for example, Atlassian revoked it's offers from what I’ve heard.
- Most other companies are mass recruiters.
