In today’s episode of “has Brie taken on entirely too much…” 😅
Tonight I attended the orientation for Service2Cyber - Cybersecurity Fundamentals through iQ4 and the Cybersecurity Workforce Alliance. One of the really great things about the CWCT program was how well they shared other program information with us. A lot of us in CWCT are veterans, so they share many programs that are veteran-oriented. So, I signed up for this back in April, and only found out that I was a) accepted and b) the orientation was to be held tonight just a couple days ago because of c) sheer dumb luck that I looked at my IvyTech email.
This is a great opportunity, just from the aspect of learning some new cybersecurity things, testing my knowledge of what I already know, etc. All good stuff. But the BEST part may just be the iQ4 Wallet. I get to keep this forever. It has my resume where it pulls all the skills it finds therein and lets me determine just how skilled I am at a thing, but it goes so much deeper than let’s say, Linux. It has this very lengthy list of things that are applicable to Linux that I can check off. It’s like this for all skills. So, I have the ability to get very granular - which I totally will but it’s going to take a minute. And, for all of the skills, it puts them into a T-shape.
The top of the T is professional skills, then the left of the bar is IT skills, and the right is soft skills. It’s not very impressive yet, but it will be over time! Bet.

My Skills T: Top in aqua colored blocks are my professional skills, left of the vertical bar of the T are my IT skills in blue blocks, and then the right of the vertical bar of the T are my soft skills, noted in green blocks.
I’ll be noting in Projects more about what I’m doing in this 4-week course, and I’ll have things to upload into my iQ4 Wallet. So exciting!
In the meantime / in tandem is of course SANS SEC401. It’s a bit like Fight Club though. We don’t really talk about it, lol. Trust that I’m working hard! Test is June 27. Pushed it back just a bit bc I spent all last week dedicated to Security+.
That’s it for now. Stay safe out there, friends.
