Why not start with the movie?

The Gojo Past Arc is the real prequel. Watching it first gives context for what happens in the movie — and makes you feel the movie’s ending harder.

Is the movie necessary?

Absolutely. It’s canon and introduces Yuta, who becomes very important later on.

It’s confirmed and will adapt the Culling Game arc — but not out yet.
