New to Slack?

Slack is a messaging app. On our Slack channels, VITA partners and GetYourRefund team members ask and answer questions, share best practices, and offer advice. It's a great way to get assistance and to join our GetYourRefund community!

In Slack, an organization can set up multiple channels — think of each channel as a chatroom, where everyone can see, comment on, and react to messages. We've set up the #tax-partners channel for VITA partners to join. Each partner organization can request up to three Slack accounts for staff use.

You can use Slack on your phone, download it as an application, or use Slack in your browser. We recommend using the desktop app; however, if you're new to Slack, you can get started by just using the browser version.

A Couple Things to Know Before Joining...

As you'll be joining our Slack community, we ask that you first read the Code for America Code of Conduct. We work to encourage a positive and inviting space.

Even though the channel is invite-only, the channel is still relatively public with hundreds of members each year. Please don't post any personal or sensitive information in the channel. If you have a question that may require sharing personal information, or is not a question appropriate for the larger group, please send a direct message in Slack or contact your Coalition Lead or Partner Support.

Joining the Slack channel

You'll need to be invited to join the Slack channel. You'll receive an invitation via email. If you've never used Slack before, it'll ask you to create an account.
