Preliminary Idea from Admissions
For the upcoming Admissions Exercise, the prelim idea we have is as follows:
Provide an for all shortlisted applicants to choose a chat/interview with an alumnus, on top of the compulsory admission interview with SUTD faculty/staff
option
The alumni interviewer’s report will the application information and evaluation for the Admissions Committee to make a decision on the admission outcome
supplement
Role of Alumni interviewer is mainly to assess if the candidate will be a good fit for SUTD. This may include whether the candidates have the mental capacity, determination, and resourcefulness to cope with the rigour of our curriculum, as well as their “fit” for our pedagogy and culture. It is also important for the alumni to inspire the candidates on what they can look forward to in SUTD, and help clear their doubts.
To address PDPA concerns, and to provide a non-bias, independent view that may be separate from that of faculty/staff interviewers, the alumni interview will be grades-blind. Hence the alumni assessment will be based purely on what the candidates choose to share at the interview itself
Proposed interview period: mid Mar to mid Apr
To have at least 1 alumni from each of the 4 degree programmes. Their brief profiles and availabilities during that period will be published to shortlisted applicants, and applicants can “book” their appointment with the preferred alumni based on availability
