but will add here for more context: has anyone done Johari’s window before? I think it’s a useful exercise to inspire what we do during the “connect” portion of the workshop. In short,

Johari’s window

is an exercise developed by psychologists… a while ago. But, it’s an exercise to essentially demonstrate awareness, both internal and general, done in groups of at least 2 and usually no more than 4.You start with a base set of adjectives (the original set came with 57). You start by picking which of the 57 adjectives you’d use to describe yourself (unlimited). Then, each person picks which adjectives they’d use to describe everyone who is participating. Then, you insert the adjectives chosen into the window pane model (photo below), with the four quadrants:

Arena

: Adjectives that both yourself and your peers selected to describe you.

Blind Spot

: Adjectives that your peers, but not you, selected to describe you.

Facade

: Adjectives that you, but not your peers, selected to describe you.

Unknown

: Adjectives that neither you nor your peers selected to describe you (remainder)I’ll add more in comments!
