About Wilderland Academy

Wilderland Academy is a nature-based K–8 microschool on Harmony Ranch in the Ogden Valley. We believe that children learn best when they are trusted, challenged, and genuinely known by the adults around them. Our guides are not just teachers — they are mentors, coaches, and co-adventurers in children's learning lives.

We are also a place that believes in the power of near-peer mentorship. Some of the most important adults in a child's life are the ones who are not quite adults yet — who are close enough to childhood to remember it clearly, and mature enough to help younger students navigate it with confidence.

That's what an Apprentice Guide is.

The Role

This is a part-time apprenticeship for a high school junior or senior — typically homeschooled — who wants to do something genuinely meaningful with their time. You will work alongside our lead educators across one or both campuses, contributing to the daily life of the school in ways that matter: helping younger students stay focused, preparing workshop materials, supporting outdoor activities, and being a consistent, encouraging presence for kids who are working hard to become the best versions of themselves.

This is not a job where you watch from the sidelines. You will be in the room, on the trail, and trusted with real responsibility from day one. Our guides will teach you, include you, and give you feedback — because we believe that good mentorship runs in both directions, and the best thing we can do for you is model exactly what we ask you to model for the students.
