Jeff Berneski is the owner of North Fresh Sushi LLC. He started his business in October of 2017 after an opportunity presented itself to open a small sushi pop-up inside of the Silverton Coffee Station in downtown Silverton, where he currently lives. While Jeff’s journey to success is certainly not traditional, it nonetheless serves as an important reminder that the road there isn’t always linear or clear cut.

In 2004, during his senior year of high school at McKay, Jeff found himself 14 credits short of graduating. His personal struggles during his time at McKay set him back temporarily but eventually, his life took a turn for the best. In 2012, he started working at Momiji where he would perform a vast array of duties: dishes, cleaning floors, engaging with customers, networking and eventually, managing multiple restaurant locations. This is where he began learning the craft of preparing sushi, which has become his passion. When he decided to open his own business in 2017, he did so without knowing what the future would hold. In order to get things going, he took what felt like a huge financial risk. Maxing out his credit cards to pay for the licensing fees and spending his last $500 on the panda logo that he now proudly displays all around Oregon. Leveraging the skills he learned and the name he made for himself during his time at Momiji with a supportive and growing social media presence has made North Fresh Sushi a success.

Jeff’s philosophy is consistency, hard work and discipline in everything. Whether it’s your personal passion or something simple you are trying to get better at. He currently lives in Silverton with his girlfriend and daughter. He is passionate about fitness and enjoys traveling to Hawaii for inspiration that he brings back to improve and grow his business. You can find his sushi food truck at Salem’s food park, The Yard.
